Our ultimate goal is to come up with a list of physical properties and how they are measured.
Read all these directions aloud before doing anything.
Get a plastic bag full of stuff. Take all the stuff out of the bag. Everyone examine the items with your senses. Do not "play".
IN CLASS: 1) First examine at least 6 items and try to make at least 6 good observations on each one. Do this below.
FOR HOMEWORK: 1) continued.... Do the same for 6 common objects at home. Observe two from your room, two from your garage or living room, and two from your kitchen!

Try to figure out all the ways these things are different from each. Write as many general properties of matter as you can (At least 20). Also try to state how you would measure each property. Another way to describe properties is to say that they are attributes which make things unique and different.
Example: DO NOT WRITE "The wood is brown and the wire is gray", those are values of the property of COLOR
